Tweetie Review

by Lon on May 6, 2009

tweetie-iphoneI use a lot of different apps, I figure i’ll start doing some occasional reviews.

Tweetie for Iphone/Ipod touch.  Get it.

I still don’t understand people who are on twitter and strictly use it from the web.

People who use it, rave about it.

One of my favorite features is the multiple user integration, i find it slicker than seesmic’s desktop app.

Here’s my peeves about it though.

The default bubble theme, is horrible.  I know some people love it, but I think it just wastes screen space.

Landscape mode should be automatic, not manually turned on or off.

offline reading/tweeting – for us disconnected ipod touch users – what I liked about twitterific was being able to just grab the latest tweets, and catch up as I was on the bus.

Groups – this has to be somewhere in the development pipeline, I can’t always be scanning through everyone I follow.

Overall a great product and worth the price.

Yeah, I love the Tweetie app on my iPhone too and share the same the same peeves.

As to groups though, I don’t think they’re coming anytime soon. Check this out from the creator: http://blog.atebits.com/2009/02/twitter-groups/

I’m experimenting with this at the moment.

I’m using it as follows:

I have my main @samradford twitter account which is my full list of people I follow. Due to the ever increasing number of people, I tend to just scan through this several times a day.

I then have three other twitter accounts that I use to focus on select people within the above list who I don’t want to miss:

@samradford_01 these are friends and people I actually know

@samradford_02 these are people I have a specific interest in staying up-to-date with who don’t necessarily fall into the _01 category.

@samradford_03 I effectively use this as a rss feed really, this is just sites – news, tech, etc – that I want to catch the updates from

All these three are addition accounts that I simply use as read-only.

It’s actually working pretty well for me and I’m happy so far.
